Position Overview: 

The Store Manager is responsible for leading and developing a high-performing team, while delivering an exceptional customer experience rooted in Athletic Annex’s values. This role sets the tone for store culture and staffing and helps strengthen Athletic Annex’s connection to the local running and walking community through leadership, service, and example. The Store Manager is responsible for overseeing daily store operations and ensuring an outstanding experience for every customer who walks through the door.  

Key Responsibilities 

• Team Leadership & Development 
  • Interview, hire, train, and onboard Team Members 
  • Manage, coach, and review Team Member performance 
  • Organize and lead regular staff meetings 
  • Attend weekly leadership meetings 
• Store Operations & Management 
  • Manage daily store operations and scheduling 
  • Oversee store payroll budgets 
  • Maintain store standards for cleanliness, organization, and merchandising 
  • Organize and maintain the stockroom 
  • Check in, price, and restock footwear, apparel, and accessories 
  • Process defective merchandise returns to manufacturers 
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts using RFID  
• Customer Experience 
  • Deliver high-quality customer service and technical product expertise 
  • Assist customers with purchasing shoes, apparel, and accessories 
  • Process sales through point-of-sale and online systems 
  • Maintain strong floor merchandising and visual standards, including window displays 
• Community & Marketing Engagement 
  • Coordinate with the Marketing Manager to promote Athletic Annex in-store and in the community 
  • Assist with water stations during company-sponsored runs 
  • Build and maintain relationships with local health, fitness, and community organizations 

Additional Duties 

• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned 

Education & Experience 

• High school diploma or equivalent 
• 1+ year of retail sales experience
